I am a Mom of three; Nana of seven; caregiver of one; lover of yarn and hooks; of sketch pad and pencil; of computer screen and keypad, of my eye and a camera lens, and of sneakers and an open road. Life is way to short and far too interesting for me to just pick one thing I like and stick to it, so I’ve decided to shove as much of the world into my life as I can.
One of the many things I loved about our former First Lady Michelle Obama, was her message to the nation: Move! And not only did she preach that message, she lived it and gave us an inside look with her exercise demonstrations, (I bought my standing kickboxing bag after watching her video) with her dance routines with Ellen DeGeneres and singing groups, and with her overall sense of adventure. Her message was, and is clear: our bodies are meant to move, our minds are meant to be challenged, and our lives are meant to explore and to experience.
“There’ll come a day when you can no longer do this. Today’s not that day. Get out and run.” — author unknown.
I live by that mantra in every part of my life, whether it’s crocheting, running, preparing vegetarian dishes, or creating a new blog. I love being over 50, and I love the excitement of knowing that each day will bring a new adventure.
Regardless of whether we’re in our 50’s, 60’s, 70’s or beyond; male or female, ambulatory or wheelchair-bound, there are new experiences awaiting all of us to keep our lives moving.
I plan to use The Fertile Pen to showcase as much of that as I can for your enjoyment and your inspiration.
Thank you for taking the time to stop by and see what adventure is crossing my path on any given day. Feel free to drop me a comment on any of my posts. And if you’re so inclined, I accept emails at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Peace and blessings!
